Villa la Castellaccia:
Seclusion, art and nature are the main attractions of this
17th-century mansion set on the gentle slopes of the Tiber
valley on the Tuscany-Umbria border. The Aloigi Luzzi family offers two double rooms in a wing of the ancestral home,
classified by the Italian authorities as a Residenza d’Epoca for
its high-ceilinged, frescoed authenticity (larger parties can
rent self-catering accommodation in the adjoining wing).
Sansepolcro, birthplace of Piero della Francesca, is less than
three miles from the villa and you can see his famous Madonna
del Parto at nearby Monterchi. Watersports fans can sail, canoe
or windsurf in the local lake. Or you can ride, hike or play a
round of golf at the 18-hole Antoniolla Golf & Country Club,
half an hour’s drive away.
